Claire Oliver Showing
I came from a horsey background. My father used to show jump ponies in his younger days and was then a successful point to point jockey. He has always had a great interest in horse racing, and still has a horse in training today.
I was very fortunate to grow up with ponies, – hunting and attending all the Pony Club activities which I so enjoyed. I went to local gymkhanas most weekends and had so much fun.
I represented the Pony Club in Eventing, and progressed to represent Great Britain in the European Young Riders Event Championships in 1985 in France, where we won Team Gold, and I won Individual Gold on Another Fred; they were special days.
I now enjoy a career in producing and showing horses: Hunters; Cobs; Racehorses; and Riding Horses.
I have had many Championship wins at most of the major County Shows throughout the season. At HOYS in 2001 I won the MW Hunter and was then Reserve Hunter Champion on Enigmatic.
I have won two Royal International Hunter Championships, the first on Sunday Best, and the second on Masterful. Masterful and I also won the Hunter Championship and Supreme Horse at the last Royal Show of England in 2008.
I won HOYS Heavyweight Hunter Champion 2013 and 2014 on Loughkeen Dancing Lord. We were also the Irish Draught Blue Chip Champion in 2014.
The former race horse, Another Man, won Royal Windsor with me three times in a row, and we also won Champion Race Horse at The Horse of the Year Show.
On Shaws Equestrian’s range of products:
The Pikeurbreeches are so hard wearing and comfortable, and I live in them!
Pikeur’s showing breeches are a very smart fit, as is the Epsom Show Jacket .
Eskadron products are very hard-wearing and well-made. We use Eskadron Boots; Nummah; and Climatex Bandage Wraps; as well as their headcollars and ropes.
We use Myler Bits on our show horses for training, as well as in the ring.
